What days and times are the lights on?

The light show takes place every night beginning Friday, November 29, 2024 through Wednesday, January 3, 2025 from 6pm to 10pm. Light shows take place at 6pm, 7pm, 8pm, and 9pm. The lights remain on (without music or motion) from 10 to 11pm each night.

Is the show every night?

Yes! The show takes place nightly from 6pm to 10pm with shows at 6pm, 7pm, 8pm, and 9pm.

Is it free?

Yes, the Macon Christmas Light Extravaganza is completely open and free to the public, thanks to our generous sponsors!

We do accept online donations (under “Select a Fund” -choose “Main Street Christmas Light Extravaganza). Donations and sponsorships help us produce this internationally award-winning light show each year.

Where does the light show take place?

Lights adorn the median parks on Poplar Street between First Street and MLK Jr. Blvd. and Third Street between Plum Street and Cherry Street in downtown Macon.

Are dogs allowed?

Yes, dogs on a leash are allowed in our spacious median parks. Please bring a doggy bag and pick up after your pup so that everyone can have an enjoyable experience.

Does the show require a reservation?

No, the show is completely free and open to the public. Come anytime between 6pm and 10pm to enjoy the lights and the music.

Can you drive through the lights?

Yes, the show will be available to listen to on the radio (tune into 89.3 FM). However, we strongly encourage everyone to park and walk through the lights to fully enjoy the show. The show is meant to be a pedestrian rather than a driving experience and the only way to be fully immersed in the show is by walking through it.

Is the show handicap accessible?

The show takes place in downtown Macon’s public median parks, which have curb ramps and sidewalks. However, most of the park area is grass rather than grass or concrete. Handicap parking spaces are placed near the curb ramps, in the middle of each block Poplar Street. There are no handicap spaces on Third Street.

Will the show take place if it's raining?

In most cases of rain or inclement weather, the light show will take place. However, the electrical boxes that supply power for the lights are in-ground and can become wet after heavy rains. Follow @maconchristmaslights on Facebook and Instagram for weather updates and changes.

How do I enter the light show?

There is no designated entrance or exit for the light show. Simply find a place to park and start walking through the lights!

Can I be a vendor at the light show?

No, we do not accept vendors for this event. The light show was created to generate foot traffic downtown so that thousands of patrons would visit downtown’s brick-and-mortar businesses.

Where can I park?

Metered, on-street parking is available in additional to several parking garages. Visit our parking page for more information.

Is there handicapped parking available?

Handicap parking spaces are placed near the curb ramps, in the middle of each block Poplar Street.

When are carriage rides offered?

Carriage rides take place on the weekends in December from 6pm to 10pm on the following dates:

December 15, 16, & 17

How do I take a carriage ride?

Carriage rides depart from the fountain at Third Street and Cherry Street. Carriage rides are offered on a first-come, first-served basis by an independent, third party vendor.

When is Santa Claus downtown?

Santa will be available for selfies on Poplar Street between Third Street and MLK Jr. Blvd. on the following dates:

December 1, 2, & 3

December 8, 9, & 10

December 15, 16, & 17

December 22

When will reindeer be downtown?

Reindeer will join Santa on Saturday, December 16 from 6pm to 10pm on Poplar Street between First Street and Second Street.
